Karen Ashcroft is a multi award winning pregnancy, newborn, baby, child and family portrait photographer. Based in Camden, Sydney, NSW. Karen is also a fully accredited member of the Australian Institute of Professional Photography and has won awards in NSW, Australia and Internationally and has over 7 years experience specialising in her chosen field. Karen has had her work published in several magazines and she also contributes regularly.
Karen specialises purely in pregnancy photography, newborn photography, baby photography, child photography and family portrait photography, using purely natural light in your own home or a location of your choice. Specialising in natural light photography, Karen likes to work in outdoor locations, where she can tap into the abundant natural light that provides the beautiful, organic soft glow that has become a hallmark of her photographic style.

Pregnancy Photography Sydney
For Pregnancy Photography, Karen likes to focus on your belly, your partner, and the love and the bond you have with your unborn child. Once your newborn has arrived this beautiful and blissful stage of your baby’s life can often become a blur. It is a beautiful time to look back on and the perfect stage to begin recording your baby’s journey in life. Pregnancy portrait sessions can take place in the comfort of your own home or at an outdoors location of your choice. The best time for pregnancy photography is generally around 32-36 weeks.
Newborn Photography Sydney
Karen’s natural and simplistic approach to newborn photography has made her one of Sydney’s most sought after newborn photographers. All of Karen’s newborn photography sessions are ‘baby run’ meaning Karen is guided by your newborn, their behaviours and uniqueness. Your newborn will be Karen’s muse and she will capture the tiny details of your precious newborns life that make up the bigger picture. The best time for newborn photography if you wish to achieve the curled up sleepy look is within your newborns first 6-10 days of life. Please contact Karen while you are still pregnant to book in your newborn portrait session if possible.
Baby Photography Sydney
Another beautiful stage of your babies life to capture are the milestones in the early years. Once your baby is sitting, crawling, starting to stand or walk a whole new world opens up to them which is often accompanied with a wide range of expressions and smiles. Karen will work with your baby to discover the personality traits which are beginning to emerge and record your baby’s uniqueness. Your baby will be Karen’s muse. Baby photography is available in your home or an outdoors location is suggested for bubs over 6-9 months of age.
Child Photography Sydney
Karen has a unique gift of being able to relate to children quickly and help them to feel comfortable, enabling their little personalities to shine through and be photographed. Karen’s child photography has become known for being able to capture more than a likeness, she is able to give her portraits life, and capture emotions that are almost tangible creating meaningful portraits.
